Opening until Monday 2 January 2023, this very special light trail returns to Windsor Great Park with a brand new trail design, more dazzling than ever as woodland and water come alive with breathtaking displays of colour, glimmering reflections and flood-lit fountains.

Along the way enjoy mouth-wateringly good food, mulled wine and hot chocolate or toast marshmallows at one of the fire pits.

Windsor Great Park Illuminated promises to be the perfect evening out where long-lasting festive memories will be made.

The second edition of Windsor Great Park Illuminated is open until Monday 2 January 2023.

This very special light trail is set in the beautiful woodland near Windsor Great Park’s Savill Garden and around the Obelisk Pond.

By car  – Do not follow your sat nav. Traffic diversions are in place to be considerate to our neighbours. 

  •  Before you set off please be sure to review these directional instructions as you may not be able to drive your usual route to Windsor Great Park and The Savill Garden. 
  • Please add 10-15 minutes to your expected journey time, to allow for the traffic diversions in place

Approaching from the M25 take Junction 13 and take the A308 Windsor Road towards Old Windsor and then follow the yellow ‘Windsor Illuminated’ AA signs.

Approaching from Windsor or Maidenhead (M4), take the A308 towards and through Old Windsor then follow the yellow ‘Windsor Illuminated’ AA signs.

Approaching from the M3 take Junction 3 and follow Windsor Great Park Illuminated signs to join the A30 London Road and, follow the yellow ‘Windsor Illuminated’ AA signs.

Please be mindful of our neighbours and do not try to access Windsor Great Park Illuminated via Wick Road or Englefield Green, both of which are unsuitable routes.  Always follow the yellow signs.

Be careful using Wick Road and avoid potholes as much as possible.

When you leave, you must turn left out of the car park

 

By train/ taxi The nearest railway stations are Egham and Virginia Water. Take a taxi to The Savill Garden car park drop off. Taxis will take around 15 to 20 mins from the stations depending on traffic.

The trail is 2.2km long and will take approximately 1 ½ – 2 hours to walk, accounting for stops and refreshments along the way.

We have made improvements to the trail path and whilst we will always try to be as fully inclusive as we possibly can, as the event is presented in the natural landscape some of the terrain through natural woodland is not suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters or buggies. This terrain will be particularly challenging in wet weather.

If you would like to shorten your walk, please speak to event staff during your visit and they will advise the alternative route/s. Please note that if you take the shorter path, you will miss some of the light displays.

The trail is outdoors and while it will take in some woodland, it is open to and not protected from the weather. Please dress warmly, wear footwear suitable for the natural terrain and bring your brolly, just in case!

There is no cloakroom at Windsor Great Park Illuminated. We strongly advise not bringing large bags or luggage to event. Please only bring a handbag or small rucksack which you can carry along the trail easily.

Windsor Great Park Illuminated is an outdoor event so make sure you dress appropriately as we will be open in all weather. You will not be refunded if you choose not to attend due to inclement weather.

In the unlikely event that the event is closed, and in accordance with the extreme weather policy of Windsor Great Park, IMG reserves the right to offer a refund or reschedule your booking to an alternative date/time (subject to availability).

No drones are allowed at Windsor Great Park.

Dogs are permitted in Windsor Great Park but while on the light trail must be on a lead and controlled at all times.

Please be aware of the affect that your dog may have on other visitors.

Dog waste bins and litter bins are available at the Park for your convenience. Please do not leave dog waste bags on the ground or hanging in bushes and trees

Along the trail, at the halfway point and at the end, you’ll find a selection food stalls with a range of mouth-watering options. As no festive event would be complete without them, you’ll also find mulled wine, hot chocolate and, most importantly, marshmallows for toasting at one of the fire pits.

Please note that not all outlets accept cash. Please bring a payment card with you.

The Savill Garden Visitor Centre will also remain open throughout the run of Windsor Great Park Illuminated.

Alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase along the trail. When purchasing, you will be asked for valid identification to confirm that you are aged 18 or over if you appear to be under the age of 25.

Alcohol is not permitted to be brought into the light trail from outside, and any alcoholic drinks purchased on site must be consumed before leaving

No, we do not offer a student/concession ticket.

Yes. A 10% group discount is available to groups of 10 people or more attending Peak and Off Peak sessions. Group discounts are only available for advance sales. You will need an entrance ticket for each member of your group.

Please note: the discount only applies to 10 people or more. This excludes Family tickets, which already include a built-in discount. The Group discount also does not apply to Super Off Peak sessions.

There is not a minimum visitor age but children 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

No, the ticket buyer does not have to be present at the event. We do however ask that you have the ticket downloaded on your phone ready to be scanned by our staff. Please note all children aged 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Yes, if you require assistance at the event, please be sure to add a Personal Assistant ticket along with your own entry ticket when purchasing. Personal Assistants can enter free of charge.

You will then be sent a form with your confirmation email requesting documentation to support your request for a PA ticket. Please note, this must be provided for your PA ticket to be valid. If there are any concerns regarding your application, See Tickets will be in touch to request further information.

While there is no strobe lighting along the trail, some the installations pulse and flash.

The safety and comfort of our visitors is a priority. Windsor Great Park Illuminated has a robust security management plan. If you see something suspicious, or something that does not feel right, please report it to a member of our security team.

To maximise safety, searches will take place at point of entry.  This can include the use of metal detectors and searches of the person. All bags will be searched. Please note that any person with illegal or prohibited items or who does not want to be searched may be refused entry and their ticket/s will not be refunded. Please also note prohibited items listed below. We will not be able to look after these items for you or hold liability and you will not be able to enter the event or receive a refund. Security checks may result in delays when entering the site.

We strongly advise not bringing large bags or luggage to event. Please only bring a handbag or small rucksack which you can carry along the trail easily.

We ask all guests to be vigilant and not to leave bags and belongings unattended at any time. Any unattended item may be disposed of in line with our security protocols.
